Experience CPAR's Work Firsthand

Many women in rural Tanzania face significant barriers to accessing timely maternal healthcare. Long travel distances, limited access to diagnostic services, shortages of trained health workers, and social barriers can delay care during pregnancy, increasing the risk of preventable complications for both mothers and newborns.

In partnership with the Government of Tanzania, local organizations, and Global Affairs Canada, CPAR is working to improve access to quality maternal and newborn healthcare across three districts in Tanzania. Through health worker training, portable ultrasound technology, community outreach, and strengthened health systems, the project helps identify pregnancy-related complications earlier, improve access to essential services, and support healthier outcomes for women, newborns, and their families.

From February 10–19, 2027, participants will visit schools, health centers, and community initiatives while learning how local leadership and community-driven solutions are strengthening health and resilience across rural Tanzania. Alongside these visits, participants will experience some of Africa's most extraordinary landscapes and wildlife, including the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Great Migration calving season.
