From February 12 to 21, 2026, CPAR supporters joined Executive Director Kathrina Loeffler on CPAR’s first Hope in Motion donor tour across Tanzania. This exciting adventure was a chance for participants to connect directly with the local communities and programs their generous donations help support.

Visits to project sites gave firsthand insight into how CPAR’s local partnerships are improving maternal and newborn health, strengthening education, and supporting overall community wellbeing. The tour offered myriad opportunities to meet health workers, community leaders, and families and hear how CPAR is driving lasting change.

A highlight was the visit to Umoja Primary School in Karatu, showcasing how simple, locally led solutions make a significant difference. The school’s rainwater harvesting system, which collects and stores rainfall from rooftops, now provides a reliable source of water for handwashing, cleaning, and maintaining small gardens.

Equally important is the sense of local ownership behind the initiative. The system is managed and maintained by the school community, supporting a healthier learning environment as well as teaching students practical lessons in environmental stewardship. In turn, they bring this knowledge back to their families. The Hope in Motion tour was a powerful reminder of all the ways that CPAR is creating sustainable impacts rooted in community leadership, with solutions designed to serve local needs for years to come. Participants enjoyed a meaningful experience that deepened their understanding, strengthened connections, and reinforced a shared commitment to creating lasting change together.
