Strengthening Community Health
And ReSILIENCE

WHO ARE WE

Founded in 1984 in response to the famine in Ethiopia, CPAR is a Canadian non-profit organization working alongside communities, health professionals, governments, and local partners to build healthier futures in Africa.

Our programs strengthen health systems while addressing the broader factors that shape wellbeing, including food security, water, sanitation and hygiene, and sustainable livelihoods.

Our Approach

CPAR takes a holistic, community-driven approach to improving health and livelihoods. By working with local partners and strengthening community systems, we support lasting change that continues long after individual projects end.

Story from the Field

At many schools in Lilongwe District, girls miss class each month due to a lack of menstrual hygiene facilities. Through CPAR’s programs, new girls’ change rooms are helping students manage their periods with dignity — allowing them to stay in school and focus on learning.
