Yesterday a small group of donors arrived in Ethiopia, where CPAR has been working in Ethiopia since 1984.
In this land and air tour, donors will visit Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, a rural hospital in the town of Fitche, and the Dibate district in north western Benishangul Gumuz (BSG). In Fitche Hospital, they will learn first hand about the project with Canadian doctor volunteers working side by side with Ethiopian doctors in the emergency department to improve systems. In Dibate, they will visit rural agricultural communities and meet community members and Farmer Field School groups that are living healthier lives because of increased food security and improved livelihood opportunities. Along the way they will see some of the most beautiful archaeological, cultural, and natural sights of Ethiopia. They will visit Lalibela, the site of 11 UNESCO World Heritage churches - all carved from “living rock”, Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile, and have the opportunity to experience traditional coffee ceremonies, dances, and performances.
We invite all of you to follow our trip and share your comments via our blog at
