Destination Malawi: Summer 2010
The Study Tour Experience.

CPAR Study Tour is a great opportunity to experience development on a grassroots level.

On the Study Tour you will meet with local communities; learn about CPAR's health and development programs being implemented by those communities; meet with local officials and health professionals; enjoy some of the world's most amazing wildlife; and see first-hand life in rural villages.

By visiting CPAR programs you will learn about:
  • HIV&AIDS in southern Africa
  • Water and sanitation issues
  • Child health and nutrition in Malawi
  • Food security issues
  • Environmental issues

You will learn how communities are working hard to overcome poverty. You will visit CPAR-supported community-based organizations that are working with HIV-affected households to improve their ability to earn an income while fighting the stigma of HIV.

You will visit farmers who are working together to improve both the quality and the quantity of the food that they produce. You will meet schools that are combating water-borne diseases through water and sanitation education and new infrastructure. You will also meet community groups of women and children who are learning about better nutrition and hygiene.

And last but not least you'll also visit some of the most beautiful country and see some of the most amazing wild animals on the planet as you spend 2-3 days on safari.

"If you are interested in being invited into an African farmer's house, in sitting down to a meal with women living with HIV, if you want to be incredibly moved and impressed by how these people face hardships in their lives, go on a Study Tour."
- Sarah Swan, Tanzania 2008 participant
"This tour will change the way you think about African farmers, their lifestyles, and the enormous problems they confront with courage and determination."
- Dr. Margrit Eichler, Tanzania 2008 participant
