CPAR Chapters play a significant role assisting in the development of CPAR's constituency, reaching out to the broader Canadian community, and in fulfilling the mission of the organization. They work to increase the knowledge and commitment of Canadians in the areas of health, environment and sustainable development. As such, Chapters play a primary role in CPAR's development education and communications activities. In addition, Chapters assist in the organization's fundraising by undertaking various initiatives appropriate to their regions.
Over the years Chapters have created their own events and activities based on their interests and capacity. In the past Chapters have held various fundraising events which include marathons, tennis tournaments, dinner parties, golf tournaments and silent auctions. Chapters also host speakers from CPAR's field offices and help to promote these speaking engagements. There are also various conferences and events held by other organizations where CPAR has had information booths. CPAR Chapters also facilitate presentations and workshops to promote development education in schools and in the community at large.
|
The purpose of the chapter system is threefold:
1. To promote CPAR’s work in Africa and to use development education tools to raise awareness of development issues in Africa,
2. To engage the Canadian public in fundraising and long term giving,
3. To promote volunteerism by engaging Canadians in study tours, presentations and special events.
