Kash Dash 2008 Another Successful Year! Unlike the soggy weather that characterized last year’s run, this year’s Kash Dash boasted sunny skies and hot temperatures that made the run even more of a challenge. Despite the day’s intense heat, there was an excellent turn out of 117 adult runners for the 10-K race and 28 kids turned out for the 1-K run. Volunteers helped to cool things down by hosing runners off, staffing aid stations, which provided water and energy drinks and encouraging runners to have a dip in the lake at the finish line. Preston Roberts of Haliburton won the boy’s 1-K run in a time of 3:56 and the girl's 1-K run was won by his sister Paige Roberts in a time of 4:14. The 10-K run was won by Lisa Avery of Orillia in a time of 41:28, making this her 3rd straight Kash Dash victory. The men's 10-K division was won by 16-year old Thomas Toth of Lakefield in a time of 37:33. This year, the Kash Dash also had a record year for fundraising. Lisa Avery generously donated her winnings back to CPAR and thanks to the generosity of an anonymous cottager, all pledges will be matched this year bringing the totals up to $5,000-$6,000! CPAR would like to say a big thank you to Steve Ferracuti, his family, all of the volunteers and the energetic runners who continue to make the Kash Dash a success each year.
