NEW and FREE Global Kidz 2008 English Edition!!
The Global Kidz Development Education Program is an exciting and comprehensive 10-lesson (plus) curriculum that has been designed for Grade 4 elementary students in the Canadian Educational System. It can easily be adapted for Grades 5 and 6 using the built-in extension activities (and teacher creativity!). Specifically, the curriculum has been written to fulfill the latest Ontario curriculum expectations in Language, Science and Technology, the Arts, Math, and Social Studies.
The curriculum is designed to bring Global Education into the classroom in a form that is easy-to-use for teachers, fun for students and gets everyone thinking about global development. It is also environmentally friendly!
The main theme of Global Kidz is "Building Healthy Communities." Students will explore this theme during lessons that emphasize global connectivity – examining issues such as water, tree planting, and food security with case studies from both Canada and various African countries.
Global Kidz teaches students about social justice. It helps them place themselves in a world where many struggles are shared struggles – although often different. It teaches cultural understanding and harmony. Primarily, it teaches about connectivity and avoids stereotypes and perpetuating an "us" and "them" perspective.
