The Donor Difference

Gabriella Laws

Gabriella’s commitment to change in rural Africa started when she was only six years old. A few months before her birthday, she told her mother that for her 7th birthday she did not want gifts – instead she wanted to help bring clean water to school children in Tanzania.

Gabriella gave up her birthday gifts for Africa so far has raised more than $2000 for clean water in Africa.  At such a young age, Gabriella wanted to reach out to others who she knew had less than her and help to make a difference in their lives.

Gabriella has given up her birthday gifts for two of her birthdays and she has also given up some of her Christmas gifts. Gabriella is the main inspiration behind CPAR’s Give Up Your Gifts for Africa campaign which has helped to raise more than $20,000 for critical development programs.  Committed donors across Canada have given up their gifts for the holidays and other special occasions in support of CPAR’s development programs.
